01The short version
Lineup is owned and operated by Waterloo Sun Inc. (“Waterloo Sun,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Lineup app and website (the “Service”), why we collect it, and the choices you have.
The plain-language summary: we collect what we need to turn your clips into scheduled posts — your account details, the content you upload, the social accounts you connect, and how the app is used. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use your clips to advertise to anyone.
02What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — name, email address, shop name, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
- Your content — the videos, photos, captions, and audio you upload or create in the app.
- Preferences — posting schedule choices, caption style settings, and similar configuration.
- Messages — anything you send to support or include in feedback.
Information from connected platforms
- Social account data — when you connect Instagram or TikTok, we receive the profile identifiers and permissions you authorize, plus engagement metrics on your posts (views, likes, comments counts) so we can recommend posting times and show you performance.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data — device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and in-app events (e.g., which features are used), used to keep the Service working and improve it.
- Approximate location — inferred from your IP address or time-zone setting, used to schedule posts in your local time. We do not collect precise GPS location.
03How we use it
- Provide the Service — edit clips, generate captions, queue posts, and publish to the accounts you connect, on the schedule you approve.
- Personalize — learn your caption voice from your own past posts and tune posting-time recommendations to your audience.
- Operate and improve — fix bugs, measure what works, and develop new features.
- Communicate — service messages, support replies, and (if you opt in) product updates. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
- Protect — detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with law.
04AI processing
Lineup’s core features are powered by machine learning: models analyze your clips to find the best moments, sync cuts to audio, pick cover frames, and draft captions. This means your uploaded content is processed by AI systems operated by us and by vetted service providers acting on our instructions.
- Your content is processed to deliver the features you use — not to build advertising profiles.
- We do not use your identifiable content to train models for other customers without your explicit opt-in consent.
- AI output is shown to you for review; nothing is published without your approval.
05People in your clips
Your videos will usually show your clients. For that footage, you are the one collecting their personal information, and you are responsible for getting any consent the law requires before filming and posting them. Lineup processes that footage on your behalf to provide the Service.
08Storage & retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete content, it is removed from your library and purged from our production systems within 30 days (backup copies cycle out within 90 days). When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information on the same schedule, except where we must retain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
09Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures: encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, hashed passwords, scoped access tokens for platform connections, and least-privilege access controls for our team. No system is perfectly secure — if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live — including under Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws — you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete your information;
- Export your content and data in a portable format;
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can exercise most of these directly in the app (Settings → Account), or by emailing privacy@lineup.app. We respond within the timelines required by applicable law and will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local privacy regulator — in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
11Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at privacy@lineup.app and we will delete it.
12International transfers
Waterloo Sun Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada, and our service providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Where information is transferred out of your jurisdiction, we use appropriate safeguards — such as contractual data-protection commitments — to ensure it remains protected to the standard described in this policy.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.

07Social platform data
Data we receive from Instagram, TikTok, and other connected platforms is used only to provide Lineup’s features and is handled in accordance with each platform’s developer policies. Disconnecting a platform in the app revokes our access; we then delete platform data we no longer need, except where retention is required by law.
Your relationship with each platform is governed by its own terms and privacy policy — what happens on the platform after a post is published is between you and them.
